EUSPORTINCLUDES Delivers Inclusive Education Training for Teachers in Spain and Italy October 2024
As part of its comprehensive strategy to promote inclusion through sport, the EUSPORTINCLUDES project has delivered teacher training sessions in both Spain and Italy, targeting educators working directly with children and adolescents in school settings.
In Spain, the sessions were led by Open Europe in collaboration with local partners and held in Reus. Teachers from several primary and secondary schools participated in the workshops, which focused on understanding the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special educational needs. The training introduced practical tools for designing and adapting physical education activities to promote inclusion, teamwork, and emotional well-being.
Meanwhile, in Italy, similar sessions were conducted by Sport Indoor, particularly involving teachers from Scuola Media Leonardo da Vinci in Porto Viro. Educators explored inclusive methodologies, classroom strategies, and approaches to fostering empathy and active participation through physical education. The focus was also placed on creating an environment that values diversity and supports positive social interaction.
In both countries, teachers reported a stronger awareness of inclusive practices and a renewed commitment to integrating inclusive sport into their regular school activities. These sessions are a cornerstone of EUSPORTINCLUDES, ensuring the project’s impact extends beyond students and into the broader educational ecosystem.
